Game Overview

Trench Raid: Solitaire Patrol Command on the WW1 Western Front is a solitaire tactical wargame that recreates the tense night raids conducted across No Man’s Land during the trench warfare of World War I.

The player assembles a squad of 10 raiders and plots their movement across the battlefield toward enemy trenches. Missions may include capturing prisoners, gathering intelligence, or striking key enemy positions.

With 12 different raid objectives and 20 random events that may occur during the crossing, every patrol unfolds differently, creating a dynamic narrative of infiltration and survival.

The game also offers a campaign system in which surviving soldiers gain experience and become more capable raiders over time, reflecting the harsh lessons learned on the Western Front.

Game Scale & System

  • Players: 1 (designed for solitaire play)
  • Complexity: Low
  • Playing time: about 1 hour per raid
  • Map scale: 1 hex = several yards
  • Time scale: one raid per game
  • Unit scale: individual soldiers

The system focuses on stealth movement, reconnaissance, and close-quarters trench combat, simulating the uncertainty and danger of raiding enemy positions during the Great War.
