Hypothetical 1919 Battleship Designs

Jutland: Linienschiffe 1919 is an expansion for the Great War at Sea series focusing on battleships and battlecruisers designed at the end of World War I but never completed.

Based on lessons learned from major naval engagements such as Coronel, Falklands, Heligoland Bight and Jutland, naval planners envisioned faster ships with heavier guns and improved protection.

This supplement explores these “drawing-board fleets” through operational and tactical scenarios imagining the continuation of the dreadnought arms race beyond 1918.

Historical Background

German naval planners continued to design new classes of capital ships during the war, seeking higher speed, heavier armor and more powerful artillery derived from wartime experience.
