First Punic War recreates the struggle between Rome and Carthage from 264 to 241 BC. While Sicily remains the central theater, the campaign also extends to Sardinia and North Africa. Players command armies and fleets while attempting to secure strategic control of the Western Mediterranean.
Roman units represent legions, cavalry and auxiliaries, while Carthaginian formations depict a variety of troop types and mercenary contingents. Naval units represent approximately fifty warships each, and leader counters portray key commanders directing operations.
