Red Patch Devils in Sunny Sicily is the first installment in Lone Canuck Publishing's Canadians in Italy series. It focuses on the combat operations of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division during Operation Husky and the subsequent Sicilian campaign of 1943.
Following the slowdown of the British Eighth Army's advance, Canadian troops were committed to a succession of difficult assaults against German and Italian positions in the rugged Sicilian interior. The pack covers actions around Grammichele, Piazza Armerina, Valguarnera, Leonforte, Nissoria, Catenanuova and the advance toward Adrano.
The scenarios consistently place the Canadians in an attacking role against well-positioned Axis defenders. Large-scale engagements, combined-arms tactics, armor support and artillery missions are recurring features throughout the pack.
