Last Glories takes players to the heart of the German Campaign of 1813, when Napoleon was still fighting to regain the initiative following the disastrous Russian campaign.

This exceptional volume in the acclaimed Jours de Gloire series, designed by Frédéric Bey, brings together three major battles of the 1813 campaign: Lützen, Bautzen and Dresden. Representing the 48th, 49th and 50th battles in the series, it is also the largest volume ever published in the range in terms of map area and number of counters.

Following the destruction of the Grande Armée in Russia, Napoleon had to rebuild his forces while facing an increasingly determined Russo-Prussian coalition. During the spring and summer of 1813, the Emperor would still achieve several spectacular victories. However, these tactical successes would ultimately prove insufficient to save the Empire.

Three Major Battles

Lützen – 2 May 1813
Napoleon returns to the battlefield following the catastrophe in Russia. Surprised by the Russo-Prussian offensive, the French are forced into bitter fighting around the villages of Großgörschen and Kaja. Despite a critical shortage of cavalry, the new Imperial Army, including many of the famous young "Marie-Louise" conscripts, manages to regain the initiative.

Bautzen – 20–21 May 1813
Napoleon attempts to destroy the Allied army through a vast converging maneuver. While the main French forces pin the enemy frontally, Marshal Ney is tasked with turning the Allied flank and cutting off their retreat. The French achieve an important victory, but the complete destruction of the enemy army escapes Napoleon.

Dresden – 26–27 August 1813
Napoleon's last great success in Germany. Facing a numerically superior Allied army threatening Dresden, the Emperor rapidly concentrates his forces and launches decisive counter-attacks in pouring rain. A brilliant tactical victory that nevertheless fails to change the overall course of the campaign.

The Jours de Gloire System

Last Glories uses the well-established Jours de Gloire system, one of the most respected systems dedicated to Napoleonic warfare.

Players command large armies and must manage initiative, troop coordination and major battlefield maneuvers. Attritional combat alternates with ambitious flanking operations and decisive attacks, while the effective use of reserves and artillery can determine the outcome of the battle.

With its brigade-level scale and three large battles, Last Glories is particularly suited to experienced Napoleonic wargamers looking for a rich and demanding historical simulation.
