Overview & Gameplay
A Greater Victory is a regimental-level tactical simulation of the Battle of South Mountain (September 14, 1862) using the Blind Swords system. The game includes two short scenarios (Fox’s Gap and Frosttown actions) and one full-day engagement scenario. Each scenario features its own Fog-of-War table to reflect battlefield uncertainty and narrative tension.

The order-of-battle is based on historically accurate unit effectives instead of generic “paper strength”, creating tactical surprises and depth. Outnumbered Confederate forces must conduct skillful defensive operations, while Union players must coordinate powerful brigades over rugged terrain. The design emphasizes the fog, friction, and fortunes of war, offering both strategic challenge and narrative immersion.

Solitaire Friendly
The scenario structure and historical position of Confederate General D.H. Hill make the game especially rewarding for solo play, allowing players to explore the desperate historical situation in depth.
