Red Partisans: The War Behind Army Group Center, 1942‑44 is a complete wargame included in issue 110 of Paper Wars, a quarterly magazine from Compass Games. The game places players in command of Soviet partisan forces operating deep behind German Army Group Center’s lines, fighting against German and Hungarian security forces while striking as many targets as possible.
Successful partisan operations not only liberate regions but also generate modifiers that support the advance of conventional Soviet forces. At the end of each turn, players assess liberated regions — if partisan efforts sufficiently accelerate the Soviet advance beyond the historical timeline, the partisan player wins.
Designed for 1–2 players, with strong solo play potential.
The Partisan player conducts guerrilla operations against Axis security forces.
At each turn’s end, liberation results are checked and influence Soviet conventional force progress.
The Axis player defends key areas and conducts anti‑partisan operations.
1 large‑hex map (~34 × 22 ").
176 large (5/8”) counters representing units and markers.
