"Assault on Ancient Japan: Kyüshü 1945" is a game that recreates the first operation of the planned invasion of Japan by the United States, specifically, the southern part of the island of Kyüshü, codenamed "Olympic". This should have begun on November 1, 1945 as the final act of the Pacific campaign and World War II, had it not been for the surrender of Japan through the dropping of atomic bombs and the declaration of war by the Soviet Union on the Empire of the Rising Sun. In this game, it is understood that for this uchrony (alternate history) to occur, the development of the atomic bomb has failed or been delayed, and its completion is not foreseeable in the period covered by the game, except in the case that optional rule 16.1.1 is used.
