Imperial Elegy Update Kit

Imperial Elegy – Official Update Pack is an official upgrade kit designed for owners of the original first printing of Imperial Elegy: The Road to the Great War 1850–1920.

The Update Pack brings the original edition up to the same standard as the revised first edition published by VUCA Simulations. It incorporates the official rules clarifications, corrections and improvements introduced since the original printing.

Important: this is not a standalone game. An original copy of Imperial Elegy is required to use this Update Pack.

VUCA Simulations created this pack so that early supporters of the game could benefit from the refined version without having to purchase an entirely new copy.

WHAT DOES THE UPDATE PACK DO?

The kit provides the components required to bring the original game in line with the revised first edition:

• fully revised rules;
• official rules clarifications and corrections;
• updated Action Cards;
• replacement and errata counters;
• minor updates to the Player Aid Cards.

Once the updates have been installed, the original copy of Imperial Elegy contains the same updated rules and gameplay components as the revised first edition.

PACK CONTENTS

• 1 Fully Revised Rulebook, incorporating all official clarifications, corrections and improvements;
• 8 Updated Action Cards, replacing the affected cards from the original edition;
• 15 Errata Counters, including replacement and additional counters implementing the official corrections;
• 1 Player Aid Card (PAC) Sticker Sheet, allowing minor corrections to be applied to the existing player aids.

THE GAME: IMPERIAL ELEGY

Imperial Elegy: The Road to the Great War 1850–1920 is a grand-strategy wargame covering seven decades, from 1850 to 1920, in which players guide the great powers of the era.

The game combines diplomacy, industrial development, influence, colonial expansion, international crises, naval projection and warfare. Action Cards form the core of the system. Players can spend them as command points to recruit forces, industrialize, move fleets and armies, influence minor powers, establish war aims and increase their strategic reach—or play their events to alter the course of history.

The Great War is not necessarily inevitable. Diplomatic decisions, international crises and the ambitions of the various powers can either drive the world towards a general conflict or maintain an unstable international balance.

BoardGameGeek lists Imperial Elegy as a game of diplomacy, warfare and statecraft, supporting 1–6 players, with playing times ranging from shorter sessions to very long strategic campaigns.
