Air & Armor: V Corps – Tactical Armored Warfare in Europe is the second entry in the Air & Armor series, focused on modern armored combat at the grand tactical level. The game explores a hypothetical 1986 Cold War conflict in West Germany.

The battlefield covers the entire U.S. V Corps sector, including the famous Fulda Gap, one of NATO’s most critical defensive corridors during the Cold War.

Players command formations ranging from companies to regiments and coordinate combined-arms operations including armor, reconnaissance, artillery, helicopters, air support, electronic warfare, chemical warfare, and combat engineering.

Simulated Historical Setting

The game portrays a fictional clash between:

  • the Soviet 28th Army and 1st Guards Tank Army;
  • against the U.S. V Corps, including the 3rd Armored Division, 8th Infantry Division, and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

The operational objective is to halt the advance toward Frankfurt.

Game System

The Air & Armor system emphasizes:

  • asymmetric rules reflecting NATO and Warsaw Pact doctrines;
  • highly interactive gameplay;
  • detailed command-and-control mechanics;
  • intelligence and fog-of-war management;
  • both Open Mode and Hidden Mode play.

Hidden Mode conceals unit strength until contact, creating uncertainty and strong solo-play value.
